Fix the 40ft zombie slash distance

Post by SteamSucksBalls »

Well this has always annoyed me since ZM came out. On the humans perspective a Zombie isn't even relatively close to you yet they can still slash you and turn you into a zombie. It's extremely annoying for the humans. It looks like a zombie is plenty far away yet they still slash you without even getting close to you.

I dont think this is a zombiemod problem, more of a latency issue....?

I believe it is a problem with the FOV. See, the zombie's FOV is 120 while the human's is 90. That means that the view is stretched and the knife will appear to be a short distance for the zombies, but for humans it looks like a huge distance. Anyway, I tried to fix that by setting my server's FOV to 100 so that the knife model won't appear but it should be pretty balanced out.

This doesnt have anything to do with latency.

The FOV isn't the problem either in my opinion, this is the humans perspective, not the zombies. To my knowledge the humans perspective isn't changed. The humans *see* a zombie way the heck away from them who couldn't possibly reach you but somehow do. In terms of in game scale id say they are atleast 3-4 full standing player models away when they can still reach you and turn you.

If you knife fight in a regular pub the distance is much much closer before you can slash anyone.

If the Zombies FOV, being modified as it is, gives them this advantage then I will put them on the same FOV as humans because it's pretty annoying when you think you have time for a reload and bam they turn you from a retardedly far distance away.

I think I worded it wrong. The humans perspective is NOT changed, like you said it wasn't. What I meant was that the zombies new FOV, 120, is greatly stretched, so that means the knife will look closer to the human but the human wont actually be there.

And back to my original camplaint/request.

Is there a way to make the Zombies stop slashing you from 10 feet away. As a human, you can see a zombie running at you that is well away from you and shouldnt even be remotely close enough to slash you, yet they still are able to use imaginary 10ft zombie arms and slash you.

The knife distance in ZombieMod is the exact same as it is in regular CS:S.
I didn't alter anything relating to weapons functionality.
Topic closed, this has been brought up a million times and im tired of giving the same answer.
