I've done some compressing methods, as I mentioned, to get the trees to be nearly unnoticable when complied. They still cause some of the lag as you would expect, but not as much. It also helps to have more of the trees that can be walked through than the ones that you cannot as the ones you can produce much less lag. As for those compressing methods, I was just fooling around one day and really have no idea how to do it again, sorry.

Ok, I have a great idea for a map, I mean it is impossible that no one has thought of it!
It was THE original zombie map!
Think back to HL1 and Black Mesa Research Facility!
I think this would make a great map like the CT's ride in on a tram (not too long cuz what if one of them spawn as a zombie...) but I mean, it would be a great map.
So, anyone with me? I'll need alot of help.

should convert de_larasmansion to zm
and make it so you cant fall off the wall or add a ladder somewhere behind so the players dont get trapped behind the wall the whole time.

Making me see that reminds me, I don't know how to carve out a door or anything. Is it possible? I'm always making each room block by block because of a crappy doorway and it's really annoying...I'm sure if there is a way it's 101, but can someone please tell me so I can start another project?

how do you use the cut tool, im having problems and i cant find a good tutorial on it.
also i will post screens of a map i am currently producing (obviously my first map). it will be called
zm_RPD
this map will be simmilar to the map on RE:outbreak file #2 where some of the last few humans get trapped inside the Raccoon City Police Department HQ. there is a basement wich has the jail,secuirity office, locker room, and parcking garage
the 1st floor with offices and a big reception area
the 2nd floor will hav interrigation rooms, offices.
and then the roof (2 ways to get on, so there isnt an exact choke point that makes it beyond fair)
i am thinking about making the map mostly light, with a few areas with little, to no light based on the location and the atmosphere that should be generated, i will post screens in a day or too, any help on how to keep a newbie from making mistakes for a ZM map?
