zombie_balancer_type

Post by lex_talionis »

Hey gang,

I'm just curious if anyone has done extensive testing and noted results on there servers using different zombie_balancer_types ?

It's just so damn hard to know if in fact the zombie's health is tracking in accordance to the zombie_balancer_type cvars. Has anyone confirmed it working correctly and please post what you use for zombie_balancer_type Only way I can see being able to clearly track zombie_helath trends would be to have internal logging. I feel it would be an execelent barometer to the admins to know, so management of the ZM server could be eaiser.

My zombie_balancer_type cvars atm are:

Code: Select all

// 20When enabled, after zombie_balancer_player_ratio amount of players are zombies, each additional new zombies health is reduced by this percentage. 0 Disables.
zombie_balancer_health_ratio	30

// 20The ratio of players whom must be a zombie to start reducing new Zombies health. So when this percentage of the server is a zombie, new zombies health is reduced by the percentage of zombie_balancer_health_ratio.
zombie_balancer_player_ratio	15

// If this is 1, zombie_balancer_player_ratio is the ratio of players who must be zombies before health is decreased. Otherwise, zombie_balancer_player_ratio is the count of Zombies ex:6.
zombie_balancer_type 1

// This is the minimum health you want Zombies to ever end up with while using the balancer.
zombie_balancer_min_health	100
These settings would result in a situation where if >15% of the total population on the server is zombie, then the next zombie would get 30% less zombie_health, next would get 60% less health, and next 90% less health...No this being said, hell in a 20 player server with zombie_health at 2000 the 4th zombie would only have 1400 health, 5th would only have 560 and then the 6th+ zombies would only get 100 health since the zombie_balancer_min_health is 100. I can say that I've observed one occasion where I focused and noted there were at least 8 zombies and about 4 humans all shooting at them on a ledge and I just couldn't believe that two of them only had 100 health, but I really can't confirm it. Correct?

Post results/feelings/thoughts here please. I'm at a point where overall zombies win 1000 times and humans win 700 times, my average zombie_health (depending on map configs) is about 1300, average knock-back is 5, and average speed is 320. And I'm using the zombie_balancer said above. so since my health is starting to become so damn low, i want to start experimenting more with the zombie_balancer.

Thanks,
Lex

At the moment it's 687 wins for zombie's and 424 wins for human's.

My current settings are:

zombie_health 1500
zombie_speed 310
zombie_knockback 4

or some maps i have:
zombie_knockback 5
zombie_balancer_health_ratio 10
zombie_balancer_player_ratio 10
zombie_balancer_type 1
zombie_balancer_min_health 600

And on some maps i have disabled the zombie_balancer_health_ratio 1 and on some toher maps i havbe put zombie_balancer_health_ratio to 15
However i'm planning tomorrow to change some settings for a few maps.

I unrestricted rifles (not snipers) and gave it 150 max bullets. Its better than setting zombies' health.
